Superstar.
Super Star looks like a typical "high school" movie, but it is so much more than that. This movie is about a... mentally ill (the nicest way I could put it) girl, named Mary Katherine Gallagher, in a catholic school that wants to be a super star. She wants to act, dance, and sing. The thing is... she is very strange, deranged, and honestly quite repugnant. She is so strange that she was put in Special Education. In that class she meets a lot of interesting people; one in peticular is a mute, bad-boy type. He rides a motorcycle and wears a leather jacket. He is in love with her, but she is oblivious to his obvious hints. She instead is in love with Will Farrell's character, Sky Corrigan, who is a preppy, popular, "handsome" jock that runs the school. He has a nasty, super annoying cheerleader for a girlfriend that is the "typical mean girl." This movie is about her way to stardom... and how incredibly strange she is.

Insidious.
This is one of my least favorite horror movies. I was very excited to watch it because the director of the movie also directed the Saw Series and Paranormal Activity Series. I had high hopes and was very let down. The whole entire script was wrong from the very beginning. It started off like every other "Ghost" movie with a nice mother, father, and two sons moving into an old, creepy, and extremely dusty house. Stuff starts disappearing, falling on accident, and the mother hears voices. One day the little boy is up in the attic. He climbs on a rickety old ladder to turn on the light. He ends up "falling" (being pushed by a ghost) and lands in a coma the next day. The parents can't explain it, the doctors can't explain it. Three months later he is still in a coma. Then the mother starts seeing apparitions and feeling them touch her. She convinces her husband to move to a different house with both of the boys.
This doesn't help the situation, she sees more apparitions and her husband doesn't believe her. One day the grandmother comes to visit. She says that she has been seeing something evil in the comatose childs' room. They get so paranoid that they bring in a Medium and her "ghost hunters." These people... Are idiots. They try to "communicate" with the apparitions by putting a gas mask, which has a tube attached to headphones of one of her minions, over the mediums face and use a wuiji board. The multiple ghosts haunting their house an their son attack them and throw things and people fly all over the room. It's complete bullshit.
After that happens the medium tells them that their son is astro-planing in his dreams and is trapped in another realm by a demon. The only person that can save him is the father. He gets to the place and it is cheap sets and weird graphics that don't make sense. He tries to save his by facing off with the, cheaply done makeup, two horned, hooved and climbs on walls, demon. He wins his son soul back but loses his and kills the medium and the movie ends.
It is terribly done and one of my least favorite movies. Do everyone a favor, and don't watch this movie.

Paranormal Activity Vs. Paranormal Entity.
I'm sure most of you have heard of the Paranormal Activity Series, but have you heard of Paranormal Entity? Doubtful. They are very similar but Paranormal Entity is much more convincing than any of the Paranormal Activity's.
Paranormal Activity is an over rated "home video" of paranormal possession. In all cases, the children are taken and people are killed by the "ghost."
Paranormal Entity is a much more realistic "home video" of a family who is being attacked by a demon. The father died in a car accident, and since then the mother has been trying to contact him on the other side. While she was trying to do that, she invited something else, something evil, in. A therapist they visit suggests that they film everything that happens in the house. After the mother invites it into their house it then became attached to her daughter. The poor girl gets haunted, tortured, thrown, beaten, possibly raped and everything else in between.
Disclaimer: These movie is not for the faint of heart and both can easily scare (especially Paranormal Entity).

The Human Centipede 1 and 2
The first thing I have to say, I watched this movie out of pure CURIOSITY. Who in their right mind would actually think up these movies?? Seriously! First off, we are dealing with two separate movies. The Human Centipede 1 is... one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen! A mad scientist kidnaps and sews three people together from anus to mouth to make the first ever Human Centipede. It is disgusting. It is weird. And it is so strange that I felt compelled to watch the whole entire thing.
Human Centipede 2 makes Human Centipede 1 look like a walk in the park. It is far more brutal and grotesque than the first one by a mile. This mentally ill, obese, midget becomes obsessed with Human Centipede and decides to recreate that monster. Only Bigger. He kidnaps 12 people, one of them being a severely pregnant woman, the star from the last film of Human Centipede, and some random strangers.
I swear to you that this movie is by far the most mind altering and damaging movies I have seen. So if you feel like being corrupted, feel free to watch this movie.
Oh and p.s. they are making a 3rd Human Centipede.

Moulin Rouge
This is one of my favorite love stories. Yes, it is sappy, and yes it is a musical, but it is a very unique and passionate movie. This movie is very fast paced in the beginning and then slows down as it goes on. A penniless writer becomes involved with a play at the Moulin Rouge. All of the actors at the Moulin Rouge are prostitutes. The best prostitute is beautiful and has an amazing voice. She is supposed to make this Duke fall in love with her so she can be a full time actor and also to fund the play. Except she starts falling for the writer, even though he is broke. As the Duke tries to make her fall in love with him, the more she falls in love with the writer. She starts to get sick, like coughing up blood and fainting spells. It becomes a very heartfelt tragedy. I HIGHLY recommend this movie for a romantic movie night with your significant other. ;)
What do all of these movies have in common?
They were all directed by, one of my favorite directors, Tim Burton. He has such a unique perspective on life. Almost all of his movies have this dark, 50's/Victorian era type of feel. His movies are satirical and expose the ignorance of every day people. In Edward Scissorhands the people neighbors in the movie at first love him, because he is so mysterious. As soon as one little thing goes wrong they want to throw him out, mainly because he is different. He is so original. His movies are very philosophical. Nightmare Before Christmas basically says that sometimes you have to try something new to realize how much you love what you have already done.
WATCH TIM BURTON!
